Researching for Information - Knowledge is Power
We are all adrift on a vast ocean of information, how much is reliable? how much is valid? how much is biased?Most importantly - what does it mean to you? How do you make meaning from it?
Use your internet search skills to locate and evaluate (reliablitiy / validity) information on the following:
- which company makes your favourite chocolate bar?
- how many other types of chocolate bars they make?
- how much profit did they make over the past 10 years?
- where do they get all their ingredients from?
- is all their chocolate fairtrade?
- who are the major shareholders of the company?
- how much did they spend on advertising each year in the past 05 years?
- who (what section of the population) and how (techniques) do they target in their advertising?
- what ingredients are in your favourite processed chocolate bar?
- what effects does eating sugar have on your body?
- how much did the UK spend on chocolate over the past year?
- what are the recent trends in the chocolate market? -
organic / fari trade / dark chocolate / milk chocolate / luxury chocoalte / raw chocoalte
- what are the trends in rates of heart disease in the UK? (last 5 years)
- what are the causes of heart diease?
- what are the trends in rates of obesity in the UK? (last 5 years)
- what factors are implicated as causes of
obesity?
- where is chocolate grown?
- what is the process for harvesting / fermenting and drying cacao beans?
- what is fairtrade?
- which chocolate is slave-free chocolate?
- what is raw chocolate?
- what are the health properties of raw chocolate?
Create folders and store the information you locate, learn the information to ensure you are able to share the
information in a relaxed and professional way with potential customers.
You will be using this information create a website/blog/youtube video/podcast/animation/other medium - describing and explaining the consequences of eating different types of chocolate.
